Dr. Amina Guangchun Mi

Owner, Founder, Director, Educator

Dr. Amina Guangchun Mi—affectionately known by children and families as Ms. Amina—holds a Ph.D. in Education and served as a visiting scholar in the Developmental Psychology program at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Ms. Amina lives in Barrington with her husband, daughter, and two sons. Her two older children attend the Barrington school system, and her youngest, Mitchell, is in the Thriving Sprouts toddler classroom. She enjoys biking, spending time at the beach, taking nature walks, and watching figure skating.

Over the past 13+ years, Amina has worked in nearly every role in early education and child care—including Business Manager, Curriculum Designer, Teacher, and Director. She co-founded a high-quality bilingual child care center in Massachusetts, owned and operated a DHS-licensed child care home for two years, and is Director II certified through the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).

On March 16, 2024, she opened the first MI School in Riverside, bringing her passion for education and commitment to quality care to the community where she first settled after moving to the United States more than a decade ago.

Ms. Katie

Lead Toddler Teacher

Ms. Katie is the lead toddler teacher here at MI school! She hold a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and is certified in Pediatric First Aid and CPR. Her love of working with children began as an ABA Therapist for children on the Autism Spectrum, providing therapy in their homes and school. This was an extremely rewarding position and she cherishes the relationships with the kids and families that were made along the way. She has also worked in other child care settings previously before finding MI School in April 2024. In her free time, she loves playing sports, reading a good book, and spending fun filled days with her daughter, Ayla, who is apart of the Preschool classroom here at MI School!

Ms. Chen

Toddler Teacher

Ms. Chen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and is certified in Pediatric First Aid and CPR. She joined MI School when it first opened and has been an important part of our community ever since.

She enjoys staying active through sports, especially ball games and hiking in her free time. Ms. Chen also treasures spending time with children and is passionate about creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where every child feels supported and valued.

Ms. Jiaqi

Lead Preschool Teacher

Ms. Jiaqi is a passionate and creative educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She is also certified in Pediatric First Aid and CPR. She is dedicated to creating a learning environment filled with curiosity, exploration, and meaningful experiences for every child.

Joining MI School when it was still a Family Child Care Home, Ms. Jiaqi's goal is to provide students with an inspiring and engaging academic journey by incorporating creative and expressive elements through inquiry-based teaching methods. Believing that each child is a unique individual with their own developmental path and learning style, Ms. Jiaqi focuses on offering individualized care and support in a warm, safe environment.

She is committed to fostering positive interactions that help every child build confidence, develop a love of learning, and thrive.

Ms. Randi

Preschool Teacher

Ms. Randi holds a Bachelor’s degree in History with an emphasis in Education and brings over a decade of diverse teaching experience to MI School. Her background includes teaching in child care center, public schools, and online universities, as well as tutoring K–12 and college students across a wide range of subjects.

With a strong commitment to inclusivity, Ms. Randi has worked extensively with children who have special needs, medical needs, and disabilities, often partnering with therapists to provide tailored support and guidance that helps every child succeed. In addition, she has completed the BrightStars program for ITERS learners, further strengthening their expertise in early childhood education. Ms. Randi is also certified in Pediatric First Aid and CPR.

Outside of the classroom, Ms. Randi enjoys historical research, archaeology, building models, and video games—always exploring, learning, and creating.

At MI School, Ms. Randi is dedicated to fostering a supportive, engaging, and inspiring environment where every child can thrive.

Ms. Maggie

Infant/Toddler Teacher

Ms. Maggie is originally from France and now proudly calls the United States her home. She holds an Early Childhood Education certificate and brings over eight years of experience as the owner and operator of her own home daycare, where she provided a warm and supportive environment for children to grow and thrive. Ms. Maggie is also certified in Pediatric First Aid and CPR

A proud mother of three daughters—ages 17, 13, and 8—Ms. Maggie has been married for 18 years. Outside the classroom, she enjoys baking French macarons and biking.

Passionate about fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning, Ms. Maggie is proud to be part of the MI School team and to share her skills and dedication with students and families each day.

Ms. Oli

Substitute Teacher

Ms. Oli completed an Associate of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 2022 and joined MI School in July 2025, where a lifelong dream of teaching children came true. Working with students brings joy and a deep sense of connection, making the classroom a place of growth for both teacher and child.

Outside of teaching, Ms. Oli enjoys expressing creativity through drawing and finds relaxation and inspiration in listening to Tamil music. These passions bring balance and creativity that flow into the classroom environment.

At MI School, Ms. Oli is dedicated to nurturing children with care, patience, and enthusiasm, helping every student feel valued and inspired.
